Our courses are the place you can learn the skills of mokuhanga in a friendly supportive atmosphere. From beginners who have never printed before, through to professional artists, you can find a course to suit you here.
Learn traditional and contemporary Japanese printmaking techniques to produce multi-colour, multi-block prints entirely in water based media. Learn how to use traditional tools and equipment, which are all available for use in our workshops and classes.
We have run successfull workshops at Victorian and inter-state locations such as Etch Gallery Geelong, Victorian Artists Society, Ballarat Art Gallery, Canberra Artists Society, University of Southern Queensland, Impress Print Workshop Brisbane, Firestation Print Studio Melbourne, Bittondi Printmakers, Adelaide and many others including our home studio. More are scheduled! We also run skill- based workshops such as tool sharpening, baren making and hanko making.
Based from scenic Ocean Grove, Victoria and operating in the Melbourne, Greater Victorian Areas, we also regularly hold workshops in a variety of other Australian States and occasionally New Zealand. Study with Terry to study and learn, getting one-to-one tuition, access to professional eqipment and the resources of a professional mokuhanga artist and teacher.
Suitable for beginners through to professional artists, you will be able to produce your own work with assistance and guidance from Terry in all aspects of mokuhanga.
A variety of accomodation is available in Ocean Grove or nearby, from camping, camp ground cabins, bed and breakfast, Air B&B, through to holiday home rental.
There is no smoking allowed in the studio.

Ocean Grove is a seaside holiday town located on the beautiful Bellarine Peninsula. With full amenities, it is also just 1 1/2 hours to the centre of Melbourne. The studio is only a short walk to the beach, shops, supermarket, restaurants, bars and cafes.

We offer a range of courses to suit individual schedules.
Learn the basic principles to design carve and print your own multi colour, multi block woodblock print project. Course materials are provided along with helpful notes and information on where to buy materials as you need them. Once you join one of our courses you will be given a log-in to this website where you can participate in the Forum, promote your work on the Gallery and create your own profile.
The aim of these courses is to introduce the technique, providing you with the knowledge and skills to independantly produce your own woodblock prints after completing the course.
Advance your skills you have learned to a higher level. Gain ability to bring your ideas more fully to life in mokuhanga and master the different aspects of producing high quality prints.
Individual tuition is available to integrate your ideas and current practice with mokuhanga techniques
We love teaching children. In Japan children at school learn mokuhanga, much like children here might try lino printing. Whether it is a part of art classes or for cultural / language studies, please feel free to contact us to arrange a workshop. Of course we have a clear Victorian working with children check.
